Corten steel is almost pure carbon steel but machined to provide a weatherproof coating on its surface. The surface is originally greyish, due the weather conditions it turns reddish-brown (resembles the colour of rusting), which becomes darker within time.

Upon proper use, the Corten steel is vivid, long-lasting and maintenance-free, withstanding time in a unique manner.

NB! If you want to use the product indoors, the product must be treated outdoors beforehand. You can find more information about the formation of a rust layer in the guide below. If you then want to take the product into the room, you have to consider that the product may get dirty to some extent. To prevent this, the product should be treated with an aerosol varnish in advance, the instructions for this are included with the product, and the varnishes are available in hardware stores. 

The surface layer of Cor-Ten steel is initially gray in color, changing to a rust color over time.
